EuroHealthNet Press Release – Launch of the European Portal for Action on Health Inequalities
Health inequities are preventable and unjust differences in health status between different population groups. They are shaped by the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age – the so called social determinants of health. Health inequalities are present in all European countries and evidence shows that health inequalities are currently widening.

EuroHealthNet, the pan-European network for bodies responsible for health promotion and tackling health inequities in EU states and regions, has given a qualified welcome for the proposal adopted today by the European Commission for a new Health Programme in the context of the next EU budgetary period from 2014.
